Intro to CAT Tools Workshop

Have you ever wondered what translators or agencies mean when they talk about CAT tools? Are you familiar with the concept, but unsure where to start? Or are you simply interested in improving the efficiency and quality of your translation work? If any of these are true for you, please join us for CATI’s first Intro to CAT Tools Workshop.

WHERE- The Oak Foundation, 55 Vilcom Center Dr Suite 340, Chapel Hill NC

In this three-hour workshop, open to translators of all languages, we will:
· Discuss the basic concepts of CAT tools, such as translation memories, term bases, and quality assurance;
· present several of the most popular CAT tools, as well as their common and differentiating characteristics;
· jump in for a bit of hands-on experience with the free version of Memsource, so that you’ll be able to start using this tool for your translations as soon as you finish the workshop!
Presenter
Sarah Green is a native North Carolinian with over seven years of experience as a Spanish, English & Portuguese translator. She earned her B.A. in Spanish Language and Literature from Skidmore College, and currently works as a translation project manager in a clinical research firm in Durham NC. She is well versed in CAT tools such as Wordfast, Memsource, smartCAT, and memoQ, and believes that all translators can benefit from learning the basics of these tools!
