can keep up with the speaker, remain flexible, and respond to unexpected changes
and challenges in real-time interpretation, all while maintaining speed, accuracy,
and fluency. - The importance of being well-prepared and knowledgeable on the subject
matter, including how to advocate for yourself as an interpreter to ensure you have
the information you need to prepare well for an assignment. - Review of exercises related to vocal aspects (clarity, volume, and tone) and
practices to improve memory, focus, and processing speed. The session will also
focus on understanding the importance of maintaining composure during
challenging moments to ensure smooth and effective interpretation.

Bio:
Rhode Thomas works as a professional interpreter and has over 20 years of
experience. She earned her healthcare credential from the Certification
Commission for Healthcare Interpreters (CCHI) and she serves in various
sectors, including education, community, medical, religious, industrial,
social services, legal, among others. She is the founder and president of
Thomas and Fermin LLC. Rhode has been recognized by healthcare
professionals and educators as a skilled cultural mediator, and for her
lifelong dedication to serving Hispanic communities, by providing and
promoting language access. Rhode serves on the Board of Directors for the
Carolina Association of Translators and Interpreters (CATI), she is a
member of the American Translators Association (ATA), the National
Association of Educational Interpreters and Translators of Spoken
Languages (NAETISL) and the American Association of Interpreters and
Translators in Education (AAITE).
