Maria Tomas Gaspar

As an immigrant from Guatemala, I was blessed and privileged to have been born into one of the indigenous tribes and speak one of these Mayan languages.

 Chuj, is one of the many Mayan languages from Guatemala that I proudly speak and represent and interpret in. Going through some struggles and the process of learning and adapting to another culture and language was not easy however, it has helped me learn and understand the struggles that many migrants are facing today coming to the USA not being able to speak or understand another language and culture. Being an interpreter has become my passion because it gives me the opportunity to serve and help others to make their lives a little better with communication by breaking the barriers of languages.
